Counseling for kids and parents, families, and individuals.

Welcome! My name is Darcy Greene and I am a licensed couple and family therapy associate in Washington State. I am glad you are here.

It can be daunting to find a therapist. These pages provide an overview of who I am and how I work. I offer free consults so we can meet over zoom prior to getting started.

“Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love.”
— Bruce D. Perry

Humans are meant to be connected and it’s through secure, attuned connection that we grow and thrive. A secure therapeutic relationship provides the foundation to explore patterns, find new ways of being in relationships, address grief, be with life’s constant transitions, or give voice to ways we feel stuck.

As we are each the result of our intergenerational, cultural, racial, religious, economic and educational experiences, part of our work together is to look at the systems that influence us and at familial patterns. I am a systems therapist, which means all behavior is considered within the larger context of family, community, and societal influences.

About me

I graduated from Antioch University Seattle with a masters in couple and family therapy. I completed specialized training in child and family therapy and am working to become a Registered Play Therapist. I am passionate about working with kids and their families. I have also loved working with teens and adults.

I completed my clinical hours at Sound Health Child & Family Services in Bellevue, Washington. I saw kids and teens aged 5-18 and mothers with preschool through high school aged children. My work focused on childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, communication skills, parenting, identity development, transitions and increasing emotional regulation.

Approach

My approach is personalized to the needs of the client. I use a collaborative, attachment focused approach, and draw from Structural Family Therapy, Bowen Systems Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We can discuss length of therapy and go into more detail after discussing what brings you to therapy at this time. We will establish goals based on your presenting issue(s) and review our progress.

Style

My style is encouraging and respectful. I believe everyone has the right to be seen, heard, and supported. There is no one way to parent, be in a relationship or even be an individual. We will explore what is right for you, your relationships and your family.

What Influences Us

We will explore the effects of racism, ageism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, elitism, and trauma, which cause internalized oppression and result in coping mechanisms that harm us or our relationships. Addressing these experiences in therapy can provide opportunities for awareness, self-compassion and empowerment.

Inclusivity

I am continually in the process of expanding my understanding of history, legacies of oppression, and my own biases. I acknowledge that this is lifelong work requiring focus and commitment.

I welcome people of all races, sizes, gender and sexual expression, ethnicities, religions and abilities. As my office is on the second floor and there is no elevator, I may not be able to accommodate in person sessions in some instances. I am able to offer telehealth services.
